Quality and safety

How we check, train and supervise staff, and what to do if you have a concern.

Registered with the CQC

Our home care service is registered with the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. The CQC inspects services and publishes its reports and ratings on its website.

Checks before anyone starts work

  • An enhanced DBS check, including the barred lists for adults (and children where the role needs it)
  • Proof of identity and the right to work in the UK
  • At least two references, including the most recent care employer
  • For nurses, a live NMC registration checked before every placement
  • Mandatory training: moving and handling, safeguarding, infection prevention, basic life support, fire safety and food hygiene, plus medication training for anyone who handles medicines
  • A face-to-face interview with our team

Training

New staff complete an induction and mandatory training before their first shift. Staff who are new to care work towards the Care Certificate. Training is refreshed regularly, and staff are only booked for tasks they’re trained and signed off to do, such as giving medicines or using a hoist.

Supervision and spot checks

Our home care workers have regular one-to-one supervision and unannounced spot checks during visits. We ask care homes for feedback on the staff we supply, and we act on it.

Safeguarding

Everyone who works for us is trained to recognise abuse and neglect and knows how to report it. If you’re worried about someone’s safety, tell us straight away on 023 9273 9266. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.

Compliments, concerns and complaints

We want to hear when things go well and when they don’t. Contact us by phone, email or the contact form and ask to speak to a manager. We’ll acknowledge your complaint, look into it and tell you what we found and what we’ll do.

If you’re not happy with our response about home care, you can contact the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, who look at complaints about adult social care providers. You can also share your experience with the CQC.
