Respite care

Cover for family carers, whether you need a few hours, a regular break or time away.

Looking after someone you love is demanding. Respite care gives you time to rest, see friends, go to your own appointments or get away, knowing the person you care for is looked after at home.

Ways respite can work

  • A sitting service for a few hours, so you can get out
  • A regular weekly break on the same day each week
  • Extra visits while you’re on holiday or in hospital yourself

We’ll learn the routines you’ve built so the person you care for notices as little change as possible.

If you look after someone, you may be entitled to a carer’s assessment from your local council, which can sometimes help with the cost of breaks.
