Loneliness can affect health as much as any illness. Companionship visits give people someone to talk to, something to look forward to and help getting out and about.
What a visit might look like
- A chat over a cup of tea, or looking through old photos together
- A walk to the park, a café or along Southsea seafront
- Shopping, the bank, the post office and other errands
- Going with someone to GP, dentist and hospital appointments
- Hobbies such as reading, puzzles, gardening or baking
- Keeping in touch with family by phone or video call
Companionship can be a visit of its own or part of a wider care package.
